Frailities of Life

Here I sit, eating leftover Chipotle on a blustery fall evening. I have been contemplating retirement. Not the retirement you usually think of, but a retirement from people pleasing. To quote Martha (whom I love, prison sentence aside) - "It's a good thing." I have expended so much energy on things which seemed valuable and I feel... spread thin, like the last of the lemon curd on the warm English muffin. I normally post about silly things, so I do apologize if this seems bleak. :-) It is a total relief to give up pleasing others, to focus on pleasing the One.
"Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul..." - Emily Dickinson
