Jacob Have I Loved

Years ago, I read this compelling story. It tells the tale of two sisters and the rural island that they call home. One is fair, one is dark. One is talented and self-centered, one is... useful and lonely. The "unpopular" sister spends her life in sullen despair, until she realizes that she has a choice. She seizes her choice, finds her calling, and then finds a family. It makes me ponder all the times I have wallowed in self-pity...
...and gives me food for thought.
